Bernal Villegas

Bernal was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, he began his formal musical training at "Universidad de Costa Rica" and his fertile professional career in the mid-80s. He is an accomplished musician, guitarist, composer, and singer-songwriter who has left an indelible mark on Costa Rica's contemporary popular music. His songs like "Dime que puedo hacer sin ti," which was recorded by Ruben Blades, and "No importa" became essential songs that are part of Costa Rican popular culture.

Bernal was the founding member of a few of the most influential bands in Costa Rican progressive rock landscape, such as "U-Manos, Shenuk, Modelo para Armar, Suite Doble, Villegas, and 50 al Norte".  He is also recognized as a composer of soundtracks, commercial music, jingles, theatre, and dance. 

Bernal  has won multiple essential awards and recognitions throughout his career, such as the induction to "ACAM's Gallery of Merit," becoming the first rocker to be appointed to such an honor.

His devotion to education affords him a robust private teaching studio where he passes along his vast experience and knowledge.

Gonzalo (Chalo) Trejos

Gonzalo picked up the bass very young, inspired by the classic '70s, '80s, and '90s rock bands. Naturally gifted in music, he taught himself the bass by playing in cover bands and original projects in high school. 
In the late 80s, Gonzalo had his first big break when he joined, as a founding member, one of the most popular bands in Costa Rica (along with Bernal Villegas and Carlomagno Araya) 'Modelo para Armar." After this band broke up, Chalo cofounded the original "50 al Norte" in 1990.
Ever since, he has been part of the most relevant rock original bands and top cover rock bands in Costa Rica, allowing him to be one of Costarricans top rock bass players.

Drummer & producer

Carlomagno Araya

Carlomagno was born in San José, Costa Rica. At fourteen, he began musical training in classical percussion and started his professional career as a drummer at 18. He moved to Miami in 1992, where he was awarded several full scholarships to study music. At the "Frost School of Music" at the University of Miami, he earned his B.A., M.A., and D.M.A. in Jazz Studies. As a producer, session, and touring musician, he has worked on recording projects and live performances of the most diverse nature. Carlomagno's work can be heard on albums that have won Grammy, multiple Latin Grammy awards, and nominations.

Carlo has made an essential pedagogical contribution as a guest artist and clinician, sharing his musical knowledge and philosophies with music students in many countries. Carlomagno is currently a professor at the "Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica" contributing to developing jazz education.

Lead Guitarrist

Edgar Sequeira

Even though Edgar got his first guitar three years earlier, he started classical guitar studies at the University of Costa Rica's School of Music at 15, obtaining his Bachelor's degree in 2002. 
After graduation, Edgar focused exclusively on the electric guitar and started working with bands in the local scene. 
During this period, his experience playing styles such as rock, R&B, Blues, and top 40's encouraged him to further his education by pursuing a Master's in Jazz Performance at Florida International University (Miami, FL, U.S.A). While in Florida, he worked extensively with professional top 40 bands and artists.
After his return to Costa Rica in 2010, Edgar became a guitar force in the rising Jazz and Blues scenes, playing with various national and international artists. He also became part of and often led Jam Sessions that significantly impacted the development of the local Jazz scene.
While keeping a busy teaching practice, Edgar performs weekly with his small jazz ensembles. In addition, he is often seen performing as part of the award-winning CCCN Jazz Orchestra.
